What Happened Here - AMMON:
Time-That-Was of the PatriarchsAMMON, incestuous son of Lot, settled what is now the modern-day city of Amman, Jordan.JACOB, wrestled with the angel, who gave him the name 'Israel', & confronted Esau.
Time-That-Was of the United KingdomKING DAVID sent messengers to Rabbah [now Amman, Jordan] who were embarrassed by the king of Ammon; David destroyed Rabbah. He sent Uriah, husband of Bathsheba, to his death in one of the battles.
***"...Wherefore [the king of Ammon] took David's servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the midst hard by their buttocks, and sent them away...[To prepare for a response from David, Ammon hired the army of Syria, who camped at Madaba, but later ran away]...David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab [David's captain] smote Rabbah [Amman], and destroyed it...(1 Chron. 19; 20:1-3)."***
