THe story and sites of the Patriarchs of Israel
(Photo above: the sign for the excavations of ancient Beersheba, taken Summer 2013. A “tel” is a mound formed by layers of city on top of city over the ages. Tours were kept out of Beersheba in the following year, Fall 2014, possibly because of damage from earlier rocket fire.)

ABRAHAM, possibly still living in Gerar in the land of the Philistines at the time, was told by God to listen to Sarah, and sent Hagar & Ishmael away. Here, in the desert of Beersheba, Hagar was given a message by the angel of the Lord She and her son then went to live in the desert of Paran.
***“...Hagar…with the boy [Ishmael]…wandered in the desert of Beersheba…[she] saw a WELL of water…and gave the boy a drink (Genesis 21:14-19 NIV).”***
Envy is a terrible master:
***(M) Isaiah 26:1-19 "...Lord, when Thy hand is lifted up, they will...be ashamed for their envy at the people..."***
GOOD NEWS! Gentiles don't have to envy the Abrahamic blessing!
***"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit' (Galatians 3:13-14 NIV)."***
Abraham made a treaty with Abimelech over a WELL, and the area of the well after that was called Beersheba, because they had sworn an oath. There he planted a tamarisk tree and called on the name of the Lord.
(Photo above taken of ABRAHAM’S WELL AT BEERSHEBA, Summer 2013. Was this the same one from which Hagar and Ishmael had taken a drink?)

Excavations of Tel Beersheba
[Modern Beersheba is in the Distance]
After Abraham was tested by binding his son, Issac, on Moriah and was stopped by an angel, he stayed in Beersheba, until his wife died at Hebron, and he went to her there to mourn and to purchase land for her burial [see Hebron Sites]..
During the time of the Patriarchs, God let Abraham, who He called His friend, know what the next part of His Great Plan of Redemption would be:
***“As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. Then the LORD said to him, ‘Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country [Egypt] not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions [back-pay]…In the fourth generation [of the enslavement] your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure (Genesis 15: 12-16 NIV).’”***
And so, we are now ready for “EXODUS The Story Continues…”
