This Part Under Reconstruction - Coming Back Soon!

SATURDAY NIGHT - ANOINTED FOR BURIAL   Mary of Bethany anointed Jesus for His burial, at a supper at Lazarus' house (John 12:3-9).

"PALM" SUNDAY -GENTLE AND RIDING ON A DONKEY

Jesus approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives and sent the disciples ahead to get a donkey (Zech. 9:9).

THE ROAD DOWN - PALMS AND PRAISE

***"When He came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they they had seen:

‘Blessed is the King Who comes in the name of the Lord!’…

Lk.19:37-38)"***

STOPPING ON MT. OLIVE - THE LORD WEPT

[Site: Dominus Flevit Church on Mt. Olive]

The place 'marked' by the Dominus Flevit Sanctuary.

Part of the way down Mt. Olive, when Jesus could see the City of Jerusalem, He wept over it. He prophesied the 70 AD destruction by Rome that was coming in less than 40 years after His death, when not one stone of the 2nd Temple would be left on another, because they did not receive Him as their Messiah. (Lk.19:41)

(His prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD. An uprising by the Jews in 68 AD had started a response by the Roman Empire that caused the Temple and the City to be destroyed. Some Herodian stones of the Temple are still in piles at the foot of the southwest corner of the Temple Mount.)

(Early disciples chose this place for burial, indicating that they considered it an important place.)

JESUS CROSSED THE KIDRON VALLEY

JESUS ENTERED THE EASTERN GATE

[Site: Eastern Gate]

(The Eastern Gate is also the gate that Ezekiel prophesied would be the gate the Lord will take at His Second Coming, which will be like the Palm Sunday Triumphant Entry of the Last Week. He will come from Mt. Olive.)

JESUS WENT INTO THE TEMPLE AND LOOKED AROUND AT EVERYTHING

[Site: Top of the Temple Mt.]

(Mk. 11:11)

(The Temple that Jesus entered has been gone since 70 AD. It was either on the exact site of the muslim Dome of the Rock, which covers a natural outcropping of rock, or it was to the north of the Dome of the Rock, as many believe, and where they are now prepared to build the 3rd Temple, when they receive a sign from God.)

Jesus then returned to Bethany for the evening. (Mk.11:11)

MONDAY, TUESDAY -

JESUS CURSED AN UNFRUITFUL FIG TREE ON MT. OLIVE

On Monday, going back to Jerusalem, Jesus cursed a tree that would not give him figs, because it was not in season.

On Tuesday, going back in again, the disciples were amazed that the tree had withered. (Mk. 11:12-14)

(The fig tree is used several places in the Bible as a type of Israel. Since the 1948 Rebirth and continuing return of the Jews from all over the world, Israel is once again fruitful and coming into season.)

JESUS TAUGHT IN THE TEMPLE COURT

[Site: Top of the Temple Mt.]

(Mt.21:12; Mk.11:15; Lk.19:45)

Both days, He returned to the Mt. of Olives and Bethany in the evening. (Mk.11:19; 24:3)

WEDNESDAY -

JESUS MAY HAVE STAYED ONE DAY IN BETHANY

[Site: Bethany on the backside of Mt. Olive -Lazarus' Tomb -"illegal" for Israeli guides]

At the house of Simon the Leper, Jesus was anointed a second time while in Bethany. (Mt.26:6-13; Mk.14:3-9)

THURSDAY -

JESUS & THE DISCIPLES HAD THE LAST PASSOVER SUPPER

[Site: Upper Room on Mt. Zion]

(Mt.26:17; Lk.22:8, 10-12)

(Was this the home of John Mark's mother, which the disciples later would use as a common meeting place?) (Acts 12:12)

THEY WENT BACK OVER THE KIDRON TO GETHSEMANE, FOOT OF MT. OLIVE

[Site: Garden of Gethsemane at Church of All Nations]

The Agony of Christ. (Mt.26:39; Mk.14:35-36; Lk.22:41-45)

Jesus agonized the night in prayer, sweating great drops of blood, because He faced the first separation ever of Himself and His Father, which was about to happen on the cross; He did it that we would no longer have to be separated from our Heavenly Father (Photo: Visiting the thousands-of-years-old olive trees at Church of All Nations, foot of Mt. Olive.)

***"For My love they are My adversaries: but I give Myself unto prayer (Psalm 109:4)."***

***"I am weary of My crying: My throat is dried: Mine eyes fail while I wait for My God (Psalm 69:3)."*** (The 'Church of All Nations' That Takes Care of the Garden)

(The Church of All Nations: the church that cares for the grove of ancient olive trees, known as Gethsemane. The grove is on the north side of the church, and an excavated place of grape and olive presses is on the south side of the church.)

"GOOD" FRIDAY -

JESUS WAS ARRESTED IN THE GARDEN, ABOUT 2AM

The Arrest of Christ. (Mt.26:56b; Mk.14:50-52; Jn.18:12a)

Judas had been paid 30 pieces of silver (the price of a slave) and had led the chief priests and the Roman guard to Jesus, whom he had betrayed with a kiss.  (Mt.26:47-50a; Mk.14:43-45; Lk.22: 47-48; Jn.18:2-3)

Later, Judas hung himself at Alcedama, in the Valley of Hinnon, outside the south wall of the Old City (Mt.27:3-10).

My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones; they look and stare upon me.
